Get the most from these open resources

The links in this course open into large libraries of free, openly licensed materials. A little structure turns them into real learning.

A simple method

  1. Set a goal — decide what you want to be able to do or understand.
  2. Pick one resource — start with an introductory item rather than ten at once.
  3. Take active notes — summarise in your own words and jot questions.
  4. Apply it — try a problem, example, or short piece of writing.
  5. Go deeper — follow up with a fuller textbook or course.

Choose quality

Before relying on a resource, check who made it, how current it is, whether it matches your level, and what licence it carries. A Creative Commons licence tells you how you may reuse it.
